well – i guess that works…

follow-up visit to the doctor after the BIG cholesterol numbers last month. as you may remember, he put me on a medication to help lower the numbers. i wasn’t holding my breath on new numbers, and actually didn’t expect a lot of change.

after all, i was in the h-place for a week, and really didn’t want to watch what i was eating too much. food there is one of the main reasons to go after all. and i got really good high fat and high carb tex-mex several times, how can you say no to that?

went for a new draining last tuesday and an official EKG on this recent monday afternoon. the draining was a lot less than last time, but hurt more and even bruised me. looked a bit like an amature junkie for a few days, good thing i can wear long sleeve t-shirts and the like almost everyday. the EKG took less time than walking to the office (and finding out where i was supposed to be) and filling out the paperwork. by the time i figured he was about to get started, he was done. pulling the sticky paddles off my fur was the only uncomfortable thing about the process.

he asked several time “in for high cholesterol, eh?” – i answered yes everytime. he looked at the EKG and even asked again… said everything looked pretty good to him. cool.

so yesterday (yes i am finally getting to the point here) i met with my doc. went over the new blood work, and everything was looking good. the liver and kidney numbers (which could have been off due to the new medication and have to be watched) were right on target, and he had a new cholesterol number for me.

197

whoa!

remember – the last test showed 273. what a change, even suprised the doctor – again. so guess who gets to keep taking the stuff? upped the dose from 10 to 20mg per day, and now i have to BUY the stuff, and it ain’t cheap! but if it does that much good, and in only 28 days of taking it so far, it must be worth it. a little diet change, not much but a little and this medication seem to be doing the trick.

good heavens, i’m going to get healthy and stuff…
