busy busy busy

well what a very very full week-end it was.

Started off with the usual Friday Night Dinner group – with a guest that i “almost” know, but has been a friend of the Marcus for a while. nice guy who seems that he may be able to hold his own in our little group. have to wait and see how that part goes.

got up and moving on Saturday for a day-trip out to Napa and Sonoma. went to this great little diner in Calistoga for breakfast – truly some of the BEST Huevos Rancheros i have ever had, but MUCH too filling for a wine-drinking day – then off to St Francis for a Library Tasting. good stuff, about 9 or so different vintages and styles to taste, but nothing that just jumped up and said “ME – pick me!!” well… other than the little cutie that was working there – very yummy. and we got to meet Joe – the man who started St Francis. wish i had known that was who we were talking to, would have given him our undying thanks for all the great wine.

after the reserve library tasting we went back over to the “big house” for the main tasting room. we “needed” port to bring home, so we “had” to make that stop. pretty busy day for them, didn’t do a lot of other tasting other than trying the 2 wines in this months club shipment (and a little port for me!) but had to take a pass at the food being offered. still way too full from breakfast!

then a DRIVE to Napa and Acacia. they do the BEST Pinot Noirs. pretty much the only place to serve me a Pinot that i liked, ever. and the people there are a lot of fun, and recognized us from the last visit. Heather has been a member for a while, and Michael joined last trip up, so they did have a reason to remember. after that a quick trip down the street to Tattinger. it was – OK. nothing special, but obviously set up to handle large groups, most likely due to the name rather than the wine. they do a lot of sparkling/Champaign-style wines – not my favorites.

then a nice trek home for a quiet evening. ate some dinner, watched a bit of TV – then got several more chapters through Harry Potter book 4.

after a bit of a restless night, up and at em again – this time off to the Renaissance Faire! second trip up to Heart of the Forest, last day of the season for them. 6 of us going, and i managed to get Michael dressed for the event too! since we had just been a few weeks earlier i was not as tempted by all the goodies as before, but a day at faire is always nice. got to see Sound and Fury, so that was a good thing. warm day, not a warm as last time so that was very nice.

pile back in the car, and head back to the fog. for as clear and warm as it was on the Marin side of the bridge, the opposite was going on the home side. foggy, overcast and cool. gotta love this place.

got a message when we got home that a small group was meeting to take Steve out for his birth anniversary at Le Med, so that was perfect. i have been wanting to have dinner there for a few days, so timing was perfect. a quick clean-up and out the door! 6 for dinner, great dinner and great conversation.

got home and it was crash time. no gym for me today!

so this is what it is like to have a social life, eh?
