top of the world
took one of the most strenuous walks i have pretty much ever taken earlier today. i just decided that it was too nice a day to sit inside and surf the internet, read a book or just do laundry (although i DO have a ton of laundry to get done).
for some reason i just decided to head UP to Buena Vista park. i guess i did not realize how close it really was to home, or really quite how UPHILL it would be to get there. i really think that the grade was far steeper than 45 degrees, and most of the sidewalks had stairs built in. then i discovered that where i was really heading was actually Corona Heights instead.i did not even know that these were two different areas, and that they were not as connected as i thought once i got to the top-ish of Buena Vista. amazing green areas, lots of trees and just a wonderful area. Corona Heights is mostly rock and brown, but the views are really something else. i sat at the top of the peak – 520 feet above sea level – or at least in one of the slightly lower spots for quite a long while, completely alone except for the wind and the sun.
the views from up there are really something else, and something that i need to go out and do more often.

it really helped me find my center and allowed me to just let go and be able to ignore the brain-chatter for a little while. have to admit i was a bit shaky and leg wobbly on the way home, but i managed and feel as though i accomplished a little something special for myself today.
all in all – another great reason to stay in love with this town.
